Shavon Greaves hired as track & field assistant coach

VESTAL, N.Y. The Binghamton track & field program has announced the hiring of Shavon Greaves as its new assistant coach. She arrives from Wagner College, where she was an assistant coach the past two seasons.

While at Wagner, she coached the sprinters, hurdlers and middle distance runners. Under her watch, the Seahawks produced the NEC champion in the 500 this past year as well as four All-NEC honorees in the events she oversaw. In addition, a pair of her athletes qualified for the ECAC Championships.

A 2011 graduate of Penn State, Greaves was a nine-time All-American and 14-time Big Ten Conference champion. Her top performance was a third-place finish in the 200 at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Track Championships. Greaves was named the Big Ten Athlete of the Year (across all sports) three times (2009, 2010 and 2011) and was the conference s Rookie of the Year in 2008.

She was an outstanding athlete at Penn State and a successful coach at Wagner College, and she brings a wealth of new ideas and a winning attitude that will greatly benefit the Binghamton Track and Field program.”

Binghamton was the runner up this past year at the America East Indoor Championships on both the men s and women s side. At the ensuing conference outdoor meet, the Bearcat women placed third while the men finished fourth.
