Holt and Fagan to compete at U.S. Junior National Track Meet

VESTAL, N.Y. Rising sophomores Eric Holt and Peter Fagan are heading to the U.S. Junior National Track & Field Championships, which take place July 5-6 at Heyward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Holt will compete in the 1,500 while Fagan is entered in the pole vault.

Both Holt and Fagan are coming off solid rookie campaigns, having earned America East All-Conference honors during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Holt was a close second in the 1,500 at the America East Outdoor Championships and was part of the first-place distance medley relay team at the conference indoor meet and the IC4A Indoor Championships. Fagan, meanwhile, was third in the pole vault at both the indoor and outdoor conference meets.

Holt is one of 20 athletes who are officially entered in the 1,500. The qualifying standard for that event is 3:53,44 and Holt s top time of 3:48.94 is the ninth-fastest in the field. Patrick Joseph of Virginia Tech s has the fastest overall time (3:43.70).

In the pole vault, Fagan is one of 23 athletes who met the qualifying standard of 5.00 meters (16-4 feet). His top height going into the meet is exactly 5.00 meters. Devin King of Bartolina Athletics leads the field with a top jump of 5.21 meters (17-10 feet).

The first round of the 1,500 is on Saturday, July 5 at 9:50 p.m. EST (6:50 p.m. local time). The finals are the following day at 8:20 p.m. EST. The pole vault will be held on Saturday starting at 7:00 p.m. EST.
