Track & field teams compete at Albany Great Dane ClassicPublished by

The Binghamton track & field teams continued their indoor seasons at the Albany Great Dane Classic on Friday evening at the New York City Armory. The Bearcat men placed seventh out of 16 scoring teams while the women were 12th out of 23 squads that scored points. The were over 40 teams that competed at the meet. On the men s side, sophomore Joe Miceli and freshman Peter Fagan tied for third in the pole vault. Both met the IC4A-qualifying standard with a height of 15-9. Freshman Eric Holt was third in the mile (4:15.58) while fellow freshman Jon Alkins also met an IC4A mark, clocking an eighth-place time of 22.21 in the 200. Senior Erika Kisel was the top women s finisher, placing third in the 500 (1:17.37). Sophomore Alexis Hatcher, meanwhile, was sixth in the 1,000 but broke the program record with a time of 2:57.69. The old mark of 2:58.87 was set by Kim Law in 2008. Binghamton will take part in a pair of meets next weekend. The John Thomas Invitational will be held at Boston University Jan. 24-25 while the Cornell Upstate Challenge takes place Jan. 25.
